Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

This privacy policy applies to the "HomeAssistant" application, a personal, single-operator project that connects a privately operated Home Assistant instance to the Google Nest Device Access API.

Who this application is for

This application has exactly one user: the operator of the private Home Assistant instance it runs on. It is not distributed, offered, or made available to any other individual or organization.

What data is accessed

Through the Google Nest Device Access API (SDM API), this application accesses device status and control data for Nest devices on the operator's own account, including thermostat state/settings and doorbell camera event data (e.g., motion/person detection events).

How the data is used

Data retrieved from the API is used exclusively to display device status and enable control of those devices within the operator's own private Home Assistant instance, running on the operator's own local network infrastructure.

Data sharing

No data accessed through this application is sold, shared, or disclosed to any third party. Data is not used for advertising or any purpose other than the operator's own personal home automation.

Data retention

Any data retained is stored only within the operator's own private Home Assistant instance and associated local infrastructure, under the operator's sole control. No data is transmitted to or stored on any external server operated by a third party.
